Smoking. The Big Killer!

By Richard Morgan
March 2007, Llanelli
A digital story from Coleg Sir Gar

"I hate smoking. It's a disgusting habit and it kills. There have to be a few people that smoke because they think that it is a stress reliever. I think that it is a waste of money. My mum used to smoke. She quit smoking before I started college.

Some people are mad about smoking. My dad forgot that my mum quit smoking and searched the grounds for his cigarette. There have been a few adverts about how smoking kills, like how smoke can make little babies die of young age and how one cigarette can cause a fire.

My brother is young and is very fit now. He has his own place to build his muscles up. I bet my brother would start smoking and let all that muscle turn into fat. When my mum quit smoking, she had to eat food that was good for her, like diet biscuits. It was very hard at first, but she got through it in the end.

I don't want them to die because of smoking. My mum quitted, it should be easy for them. Everyone has to die sometime, but it wouldn't be fair if they die from smoking. Some shops sell cigarettes for people over 18, but there were a few exceptions where kids that go to school lie about their age.

If someone asked me if I wanted a cigarette, I'd say "no thanks". I usually think that if my mum kept on smoking, she might die at the age of 60. Remember, SMOKING KILLS!"
