Wales Mum of the Year

By Fiona White
March 2009, Newcastle Emlyn
A digital story from Childhood Stories
Duration: 2.01

Fiona White from Newcastle Emlyn in Carmarthenshire talks about life as a busy, working mother.

Fiona was voted Wales Mum of the Year 2009 in a competition organised by netmums website. The award recognised her role in raising more than £100,000 to build a new playground for the town's children.

In this short film, she talks about balancing life as a mother of two girls with her full-time job as a staff nurse, as well as a town councillor in her spare time: "I find it hard sometimes to find the quality time we need to spend with our children, purely because of our busy working lives and the way lives have changed since when my parents had me."
