The BBC will let you know if you are in the pool of candidates from which the villages will recruit their Village Champions.
6 Nov 2009
Potential Village Champions get access to a secure website with details of all candidates in the pool and all villages shortlisted for Business Development funding. You tell us which of the villages you would like to meet at the Matchmaker Conference.
13 and 14 Nov 2009
Potential Village Champions attend the Matchmaker Conference to meet the villages. If you are shortlisted, you may visit one or more villages for further discussions, by mutual consent. (Each village may invite four candidates from the pool.)
9 Dec 2009
Shortlisted Village Champions submit their village preferences and vice versa. You will then be told if you have been matched with a village to go forward together to create a funded Business Development Plan. Around 18 villages will be awarded development funding.
12 Dec 2009
Village Champions attend the Business Development Conference with your village partners for briefing on funding, legal issues and potential filming by the BBC.
3 Mar 2010
Village Champions and their village partners submit the Business Development Plan to the Big Lottery Fund.
Early May 2010
Village Champions and their village partners find out if their business is one of the six selected for funding and filming for the BBC One series begins.
