How to make sure your comments are approved
The Video Nation comments system is pre-moderated. That is: you post your comments, and if they meet the common-sense criteria below, they will be posted under the video you commented on. BBCi may edit your comments, and cannot guarantee that all comments will be published.
About your posts
- Keep your contributions civil, tasteful and relevant. We're committed to creating an atmosphere in which friendly and mature comments are posted. Therefore:
- No flaming. Sarcastic, unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive, or otherwise objectionable material is not acceptable.
- Never reveal any personal information about yourself (for example: your telephone number, home address or email address), and please do not include postal addresses of any kind.
- We don't allow spamming. Don't submit the same comments to more than one video, or post off-topic messages.
- No advertising.
- Posts containing languages other than English may be removed.
- Impersonating someone else is unacceptable, as is adopting an inappropriate screen name (one that is vulgar, offensive, etc.)
- We're sorry, but you may not include specific URLs (web site addresses) in your posts. If you have a helpful link to share, contact us using the "Feedback" link at the left of the video page.
- Please keep your comments to a reasonable length - under 100 words.
About the law
- You may not post any defamatory or illegal material of any nature on the comments system. Posting a message with the intention of committing an illegal act is strictly prohibited.
- You agree to only post materials to which you have the copyright or other permission to distribute electronically. You may not violate, plagiarise, or infringe on the rights of third parties including copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, personal, publicity, or proprietary rights.
About your privacy
- BBCi will not publish or provide your email address to anyone. The BBC complies with the 1998 Data Protection Act.
If you're under age 18
- Never reveal any personal information about yourself (for example: your telephone number, mobile phone number, school name, home address or email address).
If you fail to abide by these House Rules and/or the BBCi Terms and Conditions, your post will not be approved. BBCi reserves the right to delete any posting, at any time, for any reason.
