Turn Back Time - Eccles: To accompany the BBC One series, community filmmakers in Eccles worked with Video Nation to make this film about the history of Church Street in Eccles.

The word Eccles means Church, so it's not surprising that a town that grew up around a church named itself Eccles. A thousand years ago, the church of St Mary's stood alone in the countryside and it wasn't until the industrial revolution in the 1800s, that the town became established. Although many of the old traditional shops have gone, residents feel there's still a community spirit present in Eccles today. Eccles Church Street was produced by BBC Video Nation Network and community filmmakers from Eccles: Deborah Brookes, Mike Atherfold, AJ Akande and Tom Berry. Archive material provided by Salford Local History Library.
