My Story: Kevin never imagined that the rusty pineapple shaped object he found in the cellar, was a real hand grenade which could have blown up if it had not been so rusty.
Kevin Peckover
Walking past the BBC Bus in Middlesbrough, Kevin stops to tells us his story. As a child, Kevin was never allowed in the cellar of his grandfather’s house. So when his grandfather finally moved out years later, Kevin and his friends decided to explore not only his grandfather’s cellar but the neighbour's too. Snooping around in an Oxo box in the cellar Kevin came across a rusty looking pineapple shaped object which he thought resembled a hand grenade. Taking the object home and parading it like a proud possession triggered suspicion that it was a real hand grenade. Kevin took it to the police station causing the local high street to be evacuated and the rusty object to be disengaged by the army, as it was indeed a live hand grenade.
Kevin, you're a true storyteller, this tale really made me laugh! Thanks for contributing to the project.
