If you submit a short video or extras for one of our Make a Video features, we will consider it for publication on the BBC Video Nation Network website in a themed feature. We cannot promise to publish all films or other materials submitted.
We will offer videos and extras to other platforms such as Big Screens and other BBC web and TV platforms.
Occasionally videos, clips or extras may be used on TV or the audio used on radio.
You can also submit comments, links to your film on another website, or stills to accompany your video on the submission form.
If you have any questions please e-mail us on: videonation@bbc.co.uk
1. Your Video And Copyright
If you have made the video with your own equipment and with no support from the BBC the submission form will ask you to share the video with the BBC in terms of an ongoing licence to show the video on all BBC platforms. If you agree you will still own the copyright to your video and can use it how you want including publishing and sharing your video with other broadcasters or video websites.
The submission form also asks whether you wish the BBC to share your video with other third party platforms (such as YouTube).
2. Link To Your Video
If you already have made a video along one of our Make a Video themes and would prefer us to link to a website where it is currently published then we may be able to do this depending on BBC editorial and commercial constraints. Please send us the link on the submission form. For other queries you can email us at videonation@bbc.co.uk.
3. BBC Production Support
If we help you to make a video either using our equipment and/or editing help, or offer you one-to-one or group training to support the making of your video, the BBC will own copyright of the video. You will get the chance to approve the finished video before we use it. In this instance we will have personal contact with you and give you a separate agreement to sign.
Subject matter: Must be about one of our Make a Video features.
Style: We are mainly a site for factual video but if you have made an animation, drama or other style of video related to one of the Make a Video themes please feel free to submit it.
If you are making a new video, you may wish to take a look at our Filming Tips
Length of film: Please make your videos a maximum of three minutes in length. Please note that whatever the length of the video, if you submit it to us for publication, we reserve the right to use a clip rather than the whole video.
You may submit video clips under three minutes taken from longer pieces of work.
We also accept mobile phone video, audio clips and still images. Just follow the same submission process as for video.
We can't promise to be in touch with everyone who submits video to us.
Copyright: You should own the copyright or have checked that you can freely use all copyright material (music, photographs, works of art, writing etc.) included. If you use recorded music or live music performance in your video you must give all details on the submission form.
We don't offer feedback and there are no payments or production funds available.
