You can find details here of our current subject themes. We try to publish details a few months ahead of our features going live to give you a chance to make content.
We work with departments across the BBC to offer you the opportunity to contribute video content to BBC themes, subjects, campaigns series and programmes. Content is featured online but also sometimes used for TV broadcast or City Centre Big Screens. Over the last couple of years we have worked with BBC departments like Panorama, CBBC and Learning, and have partnered series such as Restoration, Abolition, India and Pakistan 07 and BBC2’s White Season. Additional features have included personal stories from the Miners Strike of 1984, a portrait of the town of Dewsbury and a series with artists ‘Made in England’.
This section gives all the information required to submit your video online or send us a tape. You must complete the Submission Form. Please note that video should be less than 3 minutes in length and below 50MB in size.
If you submit online you will note that we have file and file size preferences which must be adhered to. If you cannot submit online you can send in your video with the postal submission form by post and we can encode it for you.
You must be willing to share your video with the BBC and grant the BBC ongoing permission to use the video but you will still own the copyright and can use your video for any other purpose you want.
This section gives you tips on style and technical skills for your video making. The emphasis of these guidelines is on the production of short factual video although you may find them helpful for all video filming. We offer links through to many external websites in addition to our own short video and text tips.
