TOP BRASS

Ray is chairman of the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Brass Band. He has been in the band since a young boy. He was a miner like many of the bands members and they went through some hard times during the strike when they were down to just six members. Today the band is in the top ten in the world and Ray was recently awarded an MBE for his services to brass band.
