Annis complains about the effect of large scale farming

FIELDS
By Annis Tonkinson
Annis stands in a field overlooking land which the local authority has recently sold. The buyer is a large farming concern, which is destroying the traditional small fields and turning them into huge ones. She's never seen hedges and trees come down so quickly. She wishes the local authority had made an effort to prevent this destruction before they sold the land.

Silas Jones
Farmers are taking out hedges and trees because they get ec subs so they are not `custodians of the land` as they would like one to believe but are motivated by sheer greed. They should not receive subsidies but stand on their own two feet like the majority of the population has to do!
