LONG JOURNEY TO CHINA
By Connie and Leslie Hoe
It was 1982 when Connie and Leslie went on a trip to China. Their intention was to go just for a holiday, but with the help of an old friend they managed to trace their fathers’ relatives and meet cousins and half brothers that they had never seen before. Whilst growing up in the original China Town of Limehouse they had never thought it possible to travel the thousands of miles to where their fathers had started their own journeys to London back in the 1920's. For Connie and Leslie it was like filling a gap in their lives, to meet the Chinese side of their families was something that they had only dreamed of. Since their visit to China some of Connie's relatives have moved to live in Hong Kong and London and she now has regular contact with them.
