Private Geoffrey Hobbs landed on a Normandy beach four days after D Day. He was a member of the 11th battalion Durham light infantry and he and his comrades were on the way to the front line. There he witnessed the death of his best friend.

My granpa fought in the Second World War and I often wonder about the awful things he must have seen. This video made me think about asking him about his experiences - I wonder if Geoffrey found it difficult to talk about, and whether my granpa would too?
