CJX 407670 Able Seaman Fred Webb DSM - was right at the fore-front of the action as he and his mate Brummy were Ramp winchmen on the landing craft 10-17, a tank carrier. He earned his Distinguished Service Medal after removing a live shell by hand from the vessel. But here he tells of the fears and the fun which was had as he and others like him made history...
