The Fergusons emigrate to America

Drama. The final straw for the Fergusons comes as their corn is flattened by the wind and rain. John remarks that “America is bound to be an improvement”. But the Presbyterian farmers are not wealthy and need a way to pay for their passage to America. They have two choices: sell all their possessions and arrive as beggars, or keep their prized possessions and work as bonded labourers for 2 years. (Broadcast: 24 Sep 1976)
