Ballymoney Fife and Lambeg Drumming Club & Junior Drumming Club

Ballymoney Fife and Lambeg Drumming Club was formed in March 2009 to promote the tradition of Fifing and Drumming in the North Antrim area. Interest was previously shown about 6 or 7 years prior to this when several of our current members ran a series of classes to learn the art of Lambeg Drumming.

The Club is a voluntary organisation with a current membership of 16 senior and 10 junior members. We meet every Tuesday night at 8pm in Ballymoney Orange Hall.

In our first year we were in attendance at 10 events in the Ballymoney area, including festivals, concerts and Band Parades as well as leading one of the local lodges on 12th July.

Six of our founder members have taken on the task of manufacturing their own Lambeg Drums. We have bought our own oak boards to make shells and will be involved in the various procedures in the drum making process from the initial planning and scarfing through to fitting the ropes and buffs on the finished drums.

Our plans for the future include the purchase of a small lathe as we are even looking at the possibility of making our own fifes. We also hope to form a second club within our organisation with the sole aim of performing at concerts.
