Back Across the Fields of Yesterday: Memories of an Ulster-Scots Childhood in the Ards

Hugh Robinson

Hugh Robinson has been an award-winning writer and radio story-teller for the past twenty years.

He now lives in Newtownards, his ‘hame toun’ but most of his childhood was spent in the Ulster-Scots speaking countryside at Ballyhay, near Donaghadee in the Ards Peninsula. Most of his work is based on these experiences and he brings the personality of the local community to life with a rare vitality.

In this book, he pioneers the narration of these stories in Ulster-Scots.
