Archibald McIlroy

In The Auld Meetin’-hoose Green Archibald M’Ilroy transports us back to a gentler place and time where we are introduced to the colourful characters he so fondly remembers from his youth in 19th century Ballyclare.

Here was a community that lived on so little and yet was so rich - rich in humour, virtue and love. Here the folk could squabble amongst each other, but were always quick to make the peace, for kinship transcended the individual.

None were excluded from this society, no matter what their circumstances or station, but the people came through the good times and bad, together, united by a shared history and their own unique language.
