Greetings from the Sahara
The Sahara desert
The Sahara desert
BBC Tyne is on a mission to prove that there are Geordies all over the world. Ok, so we may be slightly cheating with this one, but Tony was in the Sahara for a while AND he is definitely a Geordie!

Greetings from the middle of the (DRY) Sahara
Tony Gilmore from Wallsend, here for Xmas then back to Thailand where I have moved with my Chinese wife Ling Ling.

We tried sunny down town Wallsend but as Ling Ling is not waterproof, had to opt for the even sunnier Hua Hin and a little piece of paradise.

Been working round the Middle East for the last 20 years but always returned to the Toon for all my leave periods as I missed the crack, the lads, the club, Carville and Penny Wet, peas puddin and stottie and golf in the rain.

Though I have worked with Geordies every country I've been, and thats not a few.The travelling Geordie is a wonder to behold, and there are little Geordie lands all over the planet so you're never really far from home - except if you are in the middle of the Sahara for Xmas.

However, I just bumped into my mates brother from Whitley Bay about 50 miles east of me last week !!!

Gan Canny

Tony Gilmore
