Mackerel Sky
A sky covered with Cirrocumulus (or occasionally high altocumulus) cloud arranged in a regular pattern of waves and small gaps, and resembles the scales of a mackerel.

Maritime Climate
A type of climate dominated by a nearby sea. Typically, such areas experience relatively small ranges of daily and annual temperatures. The British isles has such a climate.

Meteorology
The science of the atmosphere. The word originates from the Greek meteoros (lofty or elevated) and logos (discourse) and was first used by Aristotle. Meteorology covers both weather and climate and is concerned with the state of the atmosphere as well as the interactions between the atmosphere and the earth’s surface.

Microclimate
The physical state of the atmosphere close to a very small area of the earth’s surface, often in relation to living matter such as crops. Compared to climate, microclimate generally refers to a short period of time.

Mock Sun (Sun Dog, Parhelion)
An image of the sun, coloured or white, generally seen at the same level as and on either or both sides of the sun. When coloured, red appears on the side nearest the sun. Mock suns are caused by refraction of sunlight within hexagonal, vertically aligned ice crystals.
