3,047 people from 83 countries died in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania as a result of terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001.

Victims and their families will be remembered at the following memorial services:

Memorial service
held by The Fire & Rescue Service:
Christ Church with St Ann's,
Simpson Terrace,
Shieldfield,
Newcastle upon Tyne
12.30pm

Memorial Service
Durham Cathedral
12 noon

St Mary's Catholic Cathedral,
Clayton St West,
Newcastle upon Tyne
mass at 8am and 12.05pm.

St Thomas The Martyr Church,
Haymarket
Newcastle upon Tyne
multi-faith service at 4pm.

St Nicholas Cathedral, St Thomas the Martyr, and St Mary's Catholic Cathedral will be open all day for prayers and the lighting of candles.

The Carillon Bells will be rung at Newcastle civic centre at 1.46pm to mark the beginning of a one-minute silence. Flags will be flown at half-mast next to the Council Chamber.
