Many of Catherine Cookson's much-loved stories have been brought to the screen.  Tyneside and Northumberland have provided the backdrop to many famous feature films.  Alnwick Castle played a starring role in the first two Harry Potter films.  This ground-breaking crime thriller starring Michael Caine was set on Tyneside.  This bittersweet comedy was shot almost entirely on Tyneside, using more than 50 locations.  The 1998 film starring Cate Blanchett used a variety of historic locations in Northumberland.
