Alfie Joey

Afternoon presenter Alfie Joey

Alfie Joey

Alfie Joey is one half of the BBC Newcastle Breakfast Show team, broadcasting with Charlie Charlton every weekday from 06.30-10.00.

Place of birth:

Peterlee

Favourite place or view in the North East:

Thornley Snooker Hall

First record you ever bought:

Frog Chorus by Paul McCartney (sorry).

Previous jobs:

Well, here's a few: Harrods toy demonstrator, religious brother, Jack the Ripper tour guide (briefly), comedian (still am sometimes!), bicycle courier, and many more.

Best thing about working in radio:

The audience response is always great.

Person you would most like to be stuck in a lift with:

Lt Columbo (always entertaining in ANY circumstances).

Your favourite sandwich filling:

Prawns.

The place you get your best creative thoughts:

Anywhere... trains, buses, watching telly. I always need my notebook to hand.

An unfulfilled ambition:

To sing with a 30-piece big band.

Any habits, annoying or otherwise:

Constantly singing big band music WITHOUT a 30-piece band.
