Find out what the hot topics were in our Great North Run Chatroom ... they include porridge and the best music to listen to while running!

Every year thousands of people enter the Great North Run. From first time runners to the professionals, the Great North Run attracts everyone. This year, BBC Tyne hosted a Great North Run Chatroom for the first time.

Here are the 'hot topics' among people taking part in the race ... please note that the text is as it appeared in the original chatroom.

Topics: Introductions, who's starting the race ... and a confession!

<BBC_Rahul> Hello!

<D_H> another question...who is the starter please and is it on the tv?
<colin_hill> Starter is Steve McClarren (England Manager) for all of those runners who don't watch much football (like me)!
<D_H> oh great....even though i don't like football much
<colin_hill> Yes it will be on BBC 1 live from 9.30am - 1.30, highlights 5.30pm bbc 2.
<BBC_Rahul> Hi Jeff, many thanks for joining us!
<Jeff_Brown> No worries! Hot foot from the studio (and there won't be TOO much mention of football...

<colin_hill> Sorry, its 5pm for the highlights, I'm normally still working to watch tv at that time!
<BBC_Rahul> Hi Jenny, welcome to the chatroom!
<jenny_walton> is trai going to be sponsored?
<D_H> ok thanks. i will be home by then
<Jeff_Brown> Don't think she'll be doing it this year - she broke her toe the other day playing football!
<BBC_Rahul> Colin Hill, Run Organiser, and BBC Look North's Jeff Brown are with us. Please feel free to ask them your GNR questions.
<paul_smith> Is there any entertainment on the route?
<jenny_walton> yes i wondered about that?   give her our love they came to do the weather from our house.
<ian_donaldson> hello
<Jeff_Brown> Talking of Trai's injury...I've got a confession to make - I can't do it either! Pulled a calf muscle playing football against Roy Keane the other day (honestly!) and aggravated it on my final training run. Was out so long, my wife almost called out a search party...

Next topics: Red Arrows, parking, lager sellers, drink stations ... and nerves >>>
