Greetings from South Africa

BBC Tyne is on a mission to prove that there are Geordies all over the world. Roz Campbell is flying the Worldwide Geordie flag for us in South Africa!

Yes, we Geordies are everywhere, even down here in South Africa.

A dramatic sea view

All-time chill in South Africa

My name's Roz Campbell and I came to South Africa in 1969 and apart from trips home to Geordieland I've been here ever since.

I met my husband here and we got married in Swaziland in 1972 and moved to South Africa.

Fantastic scenery

We have moved around South Africa and see a lot of the place, which is truly a lovely place full of fantastic scenery, wildlife and interesting people.

I have two sons and I now live in Boksburg, which is a thriving town not far from Johannesburg International Airport.

"When I hear the Geordie twang being spoken, then I know I've truly come home!"

Do I miss Geordieland? Of course I do! I try and get home as much as I can. The flight may be long, 17 hours without any delays, but it’s worth it, especially when I hear the Geordie twang being spoken - then I know I've truly come home!

Geordie nosh

When I’m back in the North East I head for the shops in Newcastle or North Shields, to get myself a Savaloy Dip and other Geordie nosh.

If I get a bit homesick back in South Africa, I just watch one of Catherine Cookson's video tapes and bring Geordieland right into my lounge!

Why aye the Lads!

Roz
