Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells stayed in the charts for a staggering 264 weeks when it was first released. Can he ever repeat its amazing success? Julia Hankin spoke to him about his new work.

Tubular Bells II also went to number one

In June 1973, Richard Branson's brand new record label signed their first act - an unknown musician called Mike Oldfield.

His first album Tubular Bells spent five years in the chart and he subsequently had more number one albums than Duran Duran.

BBC Radio Newcastle's Julia Hankin caught up with him to find out about his plans for the future.
