Jon Harle

Jon Harle presents BBC Radio Newcastle's Drive show Monday to Thursday between 16:00 and 18:00 with Anne Leuchars. You can also catch him on Sunday mornings between 07:30 and 09:00.

Place of birth: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire.

Favourite place or view in the North East:

Marsden Beach

First record you bought:

"Walk Tall" by Val Doonican (for my Mum's birthday!)

Previous jobs:

I worked in the heavy haulage industry for 10 years.

Good memories:

The smell of diesel engines on a cold damp night when moving a huge load under police escort.

Bad memories:

When the load gets stuck on a roundabout or under a bridge!

Best thing about working in radio:

I get to talk to so many interesting people...both guests and listeners

Most interesting person you have interviewed for radio:

A close run thing between Donny Osmond, Bruce Welch of the Shadows and the listener from Durham who played me "When The Saints Go Marching In" on a teapot!

Best thing about your show:

Talking to listeners with unusual stories to tell.

Person you would most enjoy being stuck in a lift with:

My neighbour... he's a lift engineer!

Favourite party game:

Postman's Knock.

Where you are when you get most of your inspiration or creative thoughts:

Lying in bed in the early hours of the morning while my head's still buzzing after a busy show.

Funny sayings you like to use:

"There's a duck off somewhere!"

Proudest achievement:

Postman's Knock...getting a kiss from a girl called Rosalie (we were both five)...and a Sony Radio Award for the Tall Ships Race was nice too.

Where you like to go for quiet moments:

On to my mountain bike ... and sometimes I take it out for a ride!

Memories of teachers at school:

A dinner lady called Janet who I was in love with (and I think she fancied me).

Favourite playground game or rhyme:

Postman's Knock.

Any habits, annoying or otherwise:

Forgetting to turn the coffee machine off!
