Presenter profilesYou are in: Tyne > BBC Newcastle > Presenter profiles > Jamie Wilkinson ![]() Jamie Wilkinson Jamie WilkinsonJoin Jamie on Saturdays from 18:30-22:00 for Beat Surrender - sharp guitars with attitude. Place of birth: Princess Mary Hospital, Newcastle. Favourite place or view in the North East:Tynemouth on a Sunday morning in Winter. First record you bought:A-Ha's "Hunting High And Low". Previous jobs:My first job was peeling potatoes at a fruit and veg warehouse before moving on to the sweaty popping room at a popcorn factory. The logic was that the only way was up, I think! My first proper job was working at BBC Radio Solent on the south coast before coming back to the North East. Bad memories:Spending two hours trapped in a car with Paul Wappat, driving back from Leeds. Good memories:Getting out of the car! Best thing about working in radio:Everyday is different. Best thing about your show:The music and talking to the listeners. Person you would most enjoy being stuck in a lift with:A lift mechanic. Favourite party game:A dice game I learned in Spain about five years ago called 'Mexico'. It's a great way of making new friends in the pub. Where you are when you get most of your inspiration or creative thoughts:Usually about 30 seconds from the start of a show, or as far away from Ian Robinson as possible! Where you go for quiet moments:The little boy's room. With a paper. Memories of teachers at school:Mrs. Cowling told me off for breaking the school clock once. I think I'd been using it as a steering wheel after watching an episode of The A Team! Any habits, annoying or otherwise:I bite my nails...and I have no intention of stopping. And I crack my knuckles. last updated: 06/04/2009 at 13:47 SEE ALSOYou are in: Tyne > BBC Newcastle > Presenter profiles > Jamie Wilkinson |
