Gateshead
is on its marks and set to hold one of the most prestigious events
in the annual athletics calendar, with the British Grand Prix on
Sunday 27 June.
With
the Olympics fast approaching, many top national and international
names are using this year's competition as a warm up for events
in Athens.
 |
| Britain's
Kelly Holmes is also competing |
Amongst
those taking part are Olympic champions Denise Lewis and Marion
Jones, who will go head to head in the long jump.
And
on the track, World Bronze medallist Darren Campbell completes a
top class field in the 100m sprint alongside World Champion Kim
Collins and World Indoor 60m Champion Jason Gardener.
Fans
of distance running can see athletics hottest young star,
Kenenisa Bekele, make his first outdoor UK track appearance. There's
a good chance he could break Brendan Fosters track record
for 3,000m set 30 years ago.
And
closer to home, Paula Radcliffe will end a two year absence from
British track action when she competes in the 10,000m.
BBC
Tyne has three pairs of tickets to give away for the British Grand
Prix at Gateshead International Stadium on Sunday 27 June.
Please
note: Winners must be able to collect their tickets from BBC Newcastle
reception and make their own way to the venue.
This
competition is now closed!
