Shane MacGowan has been making music now for nearly 30 years. Combining the anarchic menace of punk with the influence of Irish Folk, MacGowan is one of Ireland's most respected recording artists.

From the early beginnings with The Nipple Erectors, through the heady days with The Pogues, and now with his current band, The Popes, Shane has built up a reputation for putting on an excellent live show.

And on Monday 22 March 2004, Shane MacGowan and the Popes are bringing their unique style to the Newcastle Opera House.
