Angie Dymott, a paramedic from Cardiff, Wales has been working in Guatemala City, the capital of Guatemala and one of the most murderous cities on earth.
For two weeks, she worked alongside the Bomberos, combined paramedics and firefighters, answering regular calls to the scenes of gangland killings and drive-by shootings.
One of her hosts was Wilfredo Ponce, who also invited Angie to stay as a guest in his family home.
They have many things in common. They both love their jobs, work full-time, live in villages outside the city and have young children at home.
But in many other ways their lives are very different.

Salary:
£24,000 per annum + shift allowance.
Typical working day:
I work 12 hour shifts and on every shift I could have a variety of jobs. Being a paramedic is unpredictable so there is not really a 'typical' day.
Kit:
I work on a fully kitted out, reasonably new ambulance. Our kit is sufficient for all the work we carry out. Our ambulance is also designed for minimum lifting and we have various moving and handling aids.

My secret... I appeared on Bargain Hunt wearing a blue dress and matching hat.

People call 999 for toothache or a broken fingernail.
Tell us what you love/dread about your job:
Love working with and helping people. Love the laughs that I have with my colleagues. Dread a job involving a child.
Best/Worst day on the job:
Best day... delivering a baby. Worst day... attending the scene of a murder.
Wilfredo Perez Ponce: Firefighter, paramedic and instructor

Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Training:
I have done various courses such as in Obstetrics, basic and advanced airways management, advanced first aid, basic and advanced medical emergency training. I also try and keep up to date with the training suggested by the American Heart Association regarding CPR procedures.
Salary:
3,500.00 Quetzales per month, which is approx £277 per month, or £3324 per annum.
Typical working day:
Basically, I work 24 hours and rest for another 24 hours. The first thing we do is to check that the medical kits and fire trucks are ready in case of an emergency. We receive around 30 to 35 medical emergency calls - people that have been shot, stabbed, involved in a traffic accident or in a fire. Since 2011 began we've had a fire a day.

I tell my colleagues that they shouldn't make certain mistakes, but I never tell them that I have made them as well!
Tell us what you love/dread about your job:
The adrenaline that you feel when you are travelling in the ambulance or in the fire engine, and to know that people are going to put in practice what I've taught them. Also to see and to know that we've managed to control a fire and stop it causing more harm...
Best/Worst day on the job:
The worst day involves forest fires or the death of children or babies where there is nothing you can do to help. The best day is when I can save somebody who has had a heart attack, or somebody who has been involved in a fire.
