The Police - 'Every Breath You Take'

Ziggy Stardust The Motion PictureWhat with Sting riding high on a wave of collaborative cool (Sugababes, Craig David etc) it was only fitting that his musical cub scout years got a digital airing, so clear some space on your your shelves Police fans, the first collection of Police songs on DVD has arrived.

There's plenty to take in on 'Every Breath You Take', and it takes a list of videos as long as this to remind you of just how high-quality the laurels are that Stuart Copeland and the brothers Summers currently rest on.

You get everything from early ear-shredders 'Roxanne' and 'Walking On The Moon', to the later Godley & Creme directed cuts like 'Wrapped Around Your Finger' and 'Every Breath You Take' (natch). However, to balance the sheer quality of the collection, the producers have thrown in the atrocious 1986 re-hash of 'Don't Stand So Close To Me', presumably as a joke, thanks, guys.

Bundled into the '80's-tastic video marathon are early performances of 'Can't Stand Losing You and 'Next To You' lifted from The Old Grey Whistle Test, and footage of the band performing in Montserrat. And of course, there's the obligatory 45-minute documentary, that is interesting but lacking in any punch-ups (you can't have it all, folks).
