You've been around for a while now, so what is it like doing TOTP these days?
Andrew Innes:
It's a lot easier not having to go to Elstree at in the morning and then sitting around in the bar, bored for 12 hours.
Do you still enjoy doing shows like TOTP?
Andrew:
Sure, but we were banned for ages for some incident involving Luton Airport. The producer at the time told us we'd never work again.
Do you remember your last appearance?
Andrew:
I think it was 'Star' back in 1997. It seems a lot less hectic now, fewer funny Blue Peter people with blue specs patronising you. You used to get chased around by people with blue specs.
Do any TOTP performances by anyone else stick out in your mind from when you were a teenager?
Andrew:
Just the usual. Because I grew up with Glam Rock it's Alice Cooper and T-Rex.
If you could choose your own TOTP2 lineup with five acts, who would be on the show?
Andrew:
T-Rex, Bowie, the Pistols were never allowed on, Clash never did it... they tend not to let the good bands on TOTP. The Happy Mondays were brilliant, there was one edition where you had the Mondays and the Stone Roses on, that was a good one.
Martin Duffy:
I'd get all the punk bands, like the Exploited. Generation X were always good on
TOTP.
You were spotted at Brian Wilson's Royal Festival Hall concert recently, what did you think of it?
Andrew:
It was brilliant, spellbinding, it sounded beautiful. The band were great and you can tell Brian Wilson's in charge, he arranged it all.
So would you agree with Paul McCartney that 'God Only Knows' is the best pop song ever written?
Andrew:
Well, it's a great song.
