How to view TOTP videoclips using RealOne Player.

Troubleshooting
If you've downloaded and installed RealOne Player and are having problems there could be a number of reasons. Some of them we won't be able to help with, but here are some helpful tips...

  • Is the video playing, but you can't hear it?
Does your computer have a soundcard? A soundcard is something within the computer that enables you to listen to the noises your computer is making. If your computer has speakers or headphones and/or if it plays sound effects when you turn on and off then it has got a soundcard. If not, then it's likely you haven't got this piece of equipment which is a standard piece of computer hardware nowadays, and you will need to check with a computer store to get one installed.

  • Do you have a soundcard, and the audio is playing, but you still can't hear it?
If you computer can play sounds, but you still can't hear them, make sure the headphones or speakers are connected properly (check your instruction manuals). If they are, then check to see that the sound on your computer isn't turned off or muted. You'll be able to do this on the volume control, or the sound mixer - have a look on your computer for this, and turn the sound on, or turn it up!

  • Are you connected to the internet?
Is your connection OK? If you aren't connected to the internet, then pretty obviously, you won't hear anything!

  • I can never connect - it always says it's buffering, or I wait and it brings back error messages.
If RealOne Player doesn't connect, but you've managed to get it working before, don't worry! There will be times when you can't connect to audio or video, or it takes some time before it starts. It's usually down to congestion, which means RealOne Player couldn't get enough information to play what you wanted - usually down to too many people trying to access the same bit of audio or video as you. All that you can do is keep trying until the internet or your network gets quieter and you're able to see or hear what you wanted!

  • Are you on a network?
Are you listening from work, uni or school? If you are having problems and your computer is on a network (places like offices, workplaces, schools and universities have networked computers) it may be because you are behind a firewall. This stops your computer getting certain things from the internet, and to get round it certain settings need to be changed - for this you'll need to speak to whoever is in charge of the computer you are trying to use - and mention to them that you are having problems listening to things through RealOne Player.

  • The 'Enhanced Quality Stream' brings back error messages/cuts out.
This stream is similar to the High Quality stream, though while you are listening to the audio, the RealOne Player shows webpages or other features within the RealPlayer window. For most people this should play fine, however there can be restrictions, if you are on a network you may need special settings (explained above) - even if you can normally hear the audio.

If after taking these steps, you still can't hear the audio, try upgrading to RealOne Player (if you haven't already) which can help.

Hopefully this has all helped, and you are having success! If not, try the RealOne Player help pages which are VERY detailed!
