Glow, Nelly!
Showbiz parents, eh? Always interfering with their kids' careers, telling them what they should and shouldn't be doing, making outrageous demands, forcing the kids on stage in a tutu at two years old...hang on, where were we again? Oh, right: sometimes, however, the words of pop parents prove to be wise, as Nelly Furtado admits that her mum is responsible for her new image.
Talking to TeenHollywood.com, Nelly admitted she was surprised when her parents encouraged her raunchier new look because they're both staunch Catholics. She said: "My mom encouraged me to change my look. After I had my daughter, I went on tour. I was so exhausted, I didn't care how I looked. I looked awful."
And apparently it took a spot of minor house arrest to seal the deal: "And I was going to visit my grandmother, and I looked so terrible, my mother wouldn't let me leave. She told me, 'you have to start wearing make-up again."
Nelly's mum: we salute you. And if you'd be interested in forming some kind of pop makeover taskforce, we've got a small list of people we'd like you to visit. Any chance you could pop in and see Britney over the next week?
