Lance: "I'm Gay"
Hey, pop kids from 1998! Are you still here? We've got a bit of REALLY late-breaking news concerning your favourite boyband in the whole world. No, not the Backstreet Boys...NO! Not A1! Are you even listening?
Well, anyway, remember *NSYNC, right? Remember there was a fella called Lance Bass who wasn't Justin Timberlake and had blond hair and big eyes? Yeah? Well, he's just come out as gay to People magazine. And the reason he's only just doing it now is kind of shameful to everyone involved in the pop industry, from record companies to management and press.
He explained: "I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything...I had that weight on me of like, 'Wow, if I ever let anyone know, it's bad.' So I just never did."
He continued: "The thing is, I'm not ashamed...I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated...I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life...I'm at peace with my family, my friends, myself and God so there's really nothing else that I worry about."
Which is all very heartfelt and dignified, right? But look, here's Lance's former bandmate - bumbling old Joey Fatone - with his... interesting take on the revelation.
He said this: "He took years to really think about how he was going to tell everyone. I back him up 100 percent."
Wahay! BET YOU DO! Eh? Eh? (etc...)
