All About WHO?
We live in strange times, people. The football World Cup will be upon us on June 9th, and, as you'd expect, the Football Association have chosen a theme song for the tournament, using the best efforts of the finest pop brains in the land to get the very best song possible.
Weeeell, kinda, anyway. The FA has decided to turn down the offer of a song from the youthful strikers McFly, in favour of 'World At Your Feet', a more mature effort from the 'safe pair of hands' that is Embrace. Yes, you read that right, THEY TURNED DOWN McFLY...FOR EMBRACE!
FA marketing manager Tom Harold said: "The official World Cup song has become something of an institution and it is really important that we have an original and exciting track. We're confident that Embrace's song will capture the imagination of the fans and players alike."
Translation: Embrace's song was more 'original' and 'exciting' than McFly's. See what we mean about weird?
To put it into footie terms, a goal has been scored. Whether it's an own goal or not depends on whether you are you, or your dad...
