Skinner's Mystery Miss
The Streets are back with a new single, and it's causing quite a kerfuffle. The song tells the tale of a night when Skinner says he partied hard with a female pop goddess, and then saw her on telly the next morning looking fresh as a daisy.
The lyrics go: "My whole life I never thought I'd see a pop star smoke crack. And I admit I was quite shocked with the thing you did with me on your back. Considering the amount of prang you'd done, you looked amazing on CD:UK. Whenever I see you on MTV I can't stop my big wide smile, and past the children's appeal, I see the darkness behind."
Yikes!
So the big question is - who's the mystery girl? Skinner cheekily finished the song at this week's TOTP recording by saying "That one's dedicated to Cheryl Tweedy". Unsurprisingly, Cheryl's spokespeaple rushed out a statement: "I>Cheryl has never met Mike Skinner and has no intention of doing so."
The Sun rubbishes rumours that the song's actually about Rachel Stevens and even suggests that maybe it's a fictional tale that Mike's using for a bit of extra publicity...
