After he and former bandmate Pete Doherty, currently in the Top 40 with his new band Babyshambles, went their separate ways towards the end of last year, Carl looked set to launch his own solo project, but it looks like that will have to take a backseat for the time being, as doctors have told him he mustn't listen to any loud music while he's recovering. He's also been told to take two months off to make sure that he recovers properly.

A source told The Sun: "Fortunately it's not too serious health-wise - but Carl's definitely not had the best luck." Carl's booked in for an operation at the end of this month, but, as the source pointed out, "this means he won't be able to start a new project any time soon."
