The top Aussie songstrel is returning to the pop world with her new song 'Out Of The Blue' and her new album 'Mistaken Identity'. So we decided to quiz Delta Goodrem about her identity...

TOTP: Have you ever accidentally gone up to someone in the street thinking they were someone else?
Delta: Yes, I remember, even the week before I came over here, my girlfriend was coming over to say hello. It was just her, and - well, I thought it was my girlfriend - and I just walked up and waved furiously in the middle of this big corridor, and this girl sort of looked at me and waved back, like, [makes slightly scared face] "Hi!". I was like, "Yeah, hi!" and then she comes up to me and she says "Oh, Delta, how are you?" And I was like "Good!" but it wasn't my friend I was talking to!

TOTP: Has it ever happened to you, people thinking you were someone else?
Delta: Actually just before I came over here somebody said to me, "Oh, I thought you were Delta Goodrem," and I said "Oh, did you?" and they said something like "Oh, but you're much prettier than her!" I just went "Thank you, thank you very much", but I didn't really know how to respond to that!

TOTP: What proof of identity do you carry around with you?
Delta: Literally I have my library cards from school, about fifteen years ago! That's all I have, because I don't have my driver's licence yet.

TOTP: Have you ever pretended to be someone else over the phone?
Delta: [conspiratorially] Yes, but what if they're listening? I don't want them to know it was me. [Pause.] You think I'm being serious, don't you?

TOTP: Yes.
Delta: [laughs] No, no, no no no! I honestly don't, not that I can ever remember, no.

TOTP: When you were in Neighbours, did people ever come up to you in the street and think you were Nina?
Delta: Literally I have my library cards from school, about fifteen years ago! That's all I have, because I don't have my driver's licence yet.

TOTP: Did they give you advice for Nina's love life?
Delta: Completely. That's all it was. I was like, "I agree, she should not go back to Jack..."
Delta:

TOTP: Did you ever call one of your co-stars by their character's name?
Delta: That happens quite a lot. I used to call Conor - Patrick, his real name is - I used to call him Conor all the time. I used to say "Conor!" and he'd say [in weary voice] "It's Paddy!" I'd have to say sorry.

TOTP: Have you ever given someone a fake name because they were annoying you?
Delta: Ohh, no, I don't think so. I can't think of one off the top of my head.

TOTP: Have you ever had a dotty relative mistake you for another member of your family?
Delta: Umm...no, I don't really have any. I've only got my grandma, and I think she likes my cousin better than me, but other than that, no, my grandma's really cool and funky.

TOTP: If you could swap identities with another famous person for a day, who would you choose?
Delta: [thinks for ages] Oh God, I hate these ones, I'm really hopeless at it! [Thinks some more] Oh gosh. I've got so many straightaway, I keep thinking of all these musicians. But I can't think of one particular. [Delta asks her entourage. One of them shouts "Matt Damon!"] Delta: [laughing] Yeah, but we're going to be switching, what good would that be? Delta's PR: You could just sit and look in the mirror.

TOTP: Yeah, you could just go in the bathroom, take all your clothes off, and stare in the mirror!
Delta: [shrieks with laughter] No! I'd like to maybe be Tori Amos so I could play the piano like her, that'd be great. That'd be good fun.

TOTP: If you were a superhero, what secret identity would you choose to have?
Delta: I'd just love magic. I'd love to be able to just click and transport. I'd be like a fairy little godmother, I think, going round hearing what people wish for and seeing what I could do for them.

TOTP: We've got some celebrity pictures here that we've tinkered with a bit. We thought we'd see if you could recognise them or whether you'd mistake their identity.
Delta: Okay. [Confidently] The first one looks like Mr George Michael.

TOTP: Correct!
Delta: The second one's a little concerning!

TOTP: He's actually a very attractive man and we can't believe we made him look so ugly...
Delta: [in disbelief] Really, he's an attractive man? [Deliberates] Hold on, we'll come back to two. Three is Usher, four is Eminem. I think this one is your idol...Gareth Gates?

TOTP: No, it's not actually...
TOTP: No, it's not actually... Delta: Okay, let me try again. It's an Aussie? [Continues staring frantically at the picture.] An Aussie in a band, or a solo?

TOTP: Both, actually. Was in a band, now is a solo artist.
Delta: An Australian? Delta's PR: [whispering] Darren! Delta: [looking more closely] Oh, it is Darren, isn't it! My gosh, I couldn't even...! He looks like Gareth Gates there! You can't tell that's Darren, that's terrible! Oh, I love Darren. And this...Lenny Kravitz. No! No, Michael Jackson! As for No 2, I'm sorry, I just don't know who that is...
