FAQ
- Why are some BBC Search results now displayed differently?
We are developing a new way of organising search results.
Instead of presenting one long list of results, we are sorting the results by type and presenting them in zones, such as news, sport and iPlayer programmes. The order of these zones is determined by the content your search finds. For example, if there are lots of recent news items that match your query, then the BBC News zone will appear first. If there is a relevant TV programme being broadcast tonight, then the Coming Up on TV & Radio zone will take precedence.
- Why do I sometimes see the enhanced results and sometimes see the standard search results?
For the moment, we are only showing the enhanced results for certain search queries. This is so that users can get used to the new pages and so that we can gauge their success and adjust them as problems occur, without interfering too much with the overall search experience.
As a rule, if you search for a BBC programme or website you will get the standard search results; if you search for anything else you may get the enhanced results.
If you want to see the standard search results for any query, you can use the link contained in the feedback box at the bottom of the page.
- Can I get the enhanced results as an RSS feed?
- Not at the moment, but we intend to offer this feature in the near future.
- How can I report a problem with BBC search?
- Follow the link in the Your Feedback box at the bottom of the search results page.
