    Adrienne staniford
    From Seaside to Garden Pride

I used to live by the sea in Hoylake,
It was all waves and seagulls and tide,
Then I moved inland to Bedfordshire
And my garden became my pride.

    The birds in Leighton Buzzard
Are the greediest I've ever known,
But their antics are are better than a video
No,I'm not really having a moan.

The lawn is full of bird seed,
the borders are full of weeds,
But I've grown strawberries in a plant pot,
But not enough for my needs.

    The hedge is growing rampant,
The ivy races across the fence,
But I love this half tamed garden
It's worth every penny of my rent!

At the moment it's trial and error
When it comes to planting and removing 'dead heads'
But when something grows it's exciting
Cause I'm putting down roots in Beds!

    Alan Harrison
The rambling roses rich in colour, an oil ; a watercolour,
    Of flowers and borders; a
    natural gallery of art.
The birds sweetly singing their soft sonatas,
In my garden with its subtle symphony of sounds.
The butterflies beautifully blend with the scene,
Performing their buoyant ballet in the air.
    My cultural experience; my garden.

    Alison Reeves
ODE TO A HILLY GARDEN IN BRYANTS BOTTOM
    How beautiful you'll be
    when cleared of all debris
    landscaping near completed
    I will not be defeated
    you'll look so amazing
    pretty flowers blazing
    I'll watch it all unfold
    a sight to behold
    with colourful Beds
    of green, yellow & reds
a garden to be proud of
    a real labour of love

    alison roker
I sit upon a little stone,
    wondering why i sit alone.
A garden full of flower bright
my wish come true is what I hope.
The building work is all but finished,
the grass is down but has not grown.I have to plant my flowers bright and wishes as hard as might.

    Allison Fradgley
I think I need to have more patience
As my garden is in need of renovations
It's full of children's toys and games
I think I need a big gardening name
Who can inspire my green fingers
So my garden is no longer full of mingers
but £50 would be a start
In making my garden a haven with a heart

    Andrea Hirai
My garden near Bucks is so fragrant and bright,
    Everything glows, even at night.
My peach tree from Frosts bears golden fruit,
My tomatoes from seed this garden do suit.
I smell the sweet air of the honeysuckle flowers while over my path the olive tree towers.
Come what may my garden does thrive,
At the first light of day it comes so alive.

    ANGELA WARD
    IT REALLY IS QUITE IRONIC
THAT MY GARDENING KNOWLEDGE IS CHRONIC
    MY FINGERS AREN'T GREEN
    THEY'RE A SHADE IN BETWEEN
SO THOSE VOUCHERS WOULD BE SUCH A TONIC

    annette kean
oh i would love to see my garden
but the grass is four foot high
and i am sure i saw a pigmy tribe go scuring buy
one day i will cut the lawn and pull out all the weeds
then the only thing scuring around my garden will be wasps and bumbel bees

    anthony martin
    Peering quietly 'cross the lawn,
Spot dewy glisten, that greets the dawn,
The shrub lined fence that forms a border,
The aged wise Tree that keeps good order,
All spring to life as Birdsongs break,
A sign the garden is awake,
This sight that helps my day to start,
Fills deep with beauty within my heart.

    Barry Taylor
    My garden isnt cared for
    its covered in weeds
It smells bad in the corner, where the neighbours cats have peed
But I wouldnt swap it ,despite it having humps and holes in
    For a total arty nightmare
By that prat Lawrence llewelyn Bowen.

    CAROL FRAMPTON
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS.
BUT THE GARDEN GIVES IT LIFE.
THE FLOWER BEDS ARE PICTURES ON THE WALL.
CLIMBERS AND TRAILERS ARE A FAVOURITE OF MY WIFE,
BUT MY PAST TIME IS JUST POTTERING THATS ALL.

    CAROL HOLMES
My Garden has many different flowers
Watering and feeding them, I spend hours
Pruning and weeding until my back aches
Oh what hard work it certainly makes

Now if I was to win the competition
I would be in a totally different position
Up to the garden center I would walk
To purchase a new hoe, spade and fork

No more bending over those beds
I'd use my new tools, making it easy, instead
My flowers would flourish whether the sun shines or it rains
And I'd be a happy Gardener without those aches and pains

    caroline goodman
roses are red voilets are blue,im in need of the garden voucher as im a single mum and my garden needs a revamp despratly too.

    Chris Hyde
My green tubs are always sad and low
Cause in my tubs stuff won't grow
My springtime plans are ready to start
This years tub'll be a work of art
In goes the seeds and I wait and hope
My wife says "Are they growing?" and I say "Nope"
Then summer days come and what do you know
Are our tubs worthy of the Chelsea Show?
Not a chance they're all brown and dead
    Not even one blooming flower-head
So Autumn comes and brown leaves are in
My tubs are emptied to start again
And when winter comes they've a use you see
As a bucket to stand my Christmas Tree

    The Dance Starts.
Slowly. Gently wafting soft clouds of hazy hues,
    \swaying, soothing the very heart
    of all earth`s blues
    Eyes half closed,lazily I watch
while drifting with the soperific scents of Spring
Sweet flower buds, an aromatic swatch
of herbs......that call the first butterfly`s awing

    Then the dance begins anew.....
    Flying clouds of blue.
    Failing,twirling,leaping high.,
    White;red; mixing hues
as if to blend with clouds and sky.
Now I am at one with all in time
who ever sat and watched the washing on the line.

    David Pithie
There was a young gardner from Wing
Every day to his tomatoes did sing
All the notes that he sung
    had to quality of dung
And they all ended up exploding

    deana toon
    MY GARDEN IS SO BARE
    WITH NO PLANTING OUT THERE
    IT HAS NO PRETTY FLOWERS
AND IT ISNT THAT I DONT CARE
    OH PLEASE HELP MY GARDEN
    COME TO LIFE AT LAST
    BY PLANTING LOTS OF FLOWERS
    INSTEAD OF IN A VASE

    Deborah Bail
    A Stantonbury Vegetable Plot

Have you ever tried growing a vegetable plot-
    In a tiny back garden?
    A picnic-it's not!
    Nevertheless- with effort we've tried
    to grow aubergines, strawberries
    oh!- the bamboo's we've tied.
First we dug out the bricks
    we found in the soil
    -no, that lump wasn't earh!
    But we were not foiled.
So we turned and we tilled
and we drilled and we sowed
    we watered -and watered
    and fed while plants grow
    We learned from mistakes
But we reaped where we sowed
    Our gardens quite messy
    Our grass isn't mowed
    But
    WE've eaten raspberries, cucumbers
    peas and potatoes
    beetroot and carrots
    sweetcorn, tomatoes
    We tried runner beans, melons
    pumpkins and gooseberries
    cabbage and broccoli
    cauliflower and strawberries
    The list goes on
    The possibilities endless
    In a little back garden
    Quite a picnic-more or less

    Deborah Morgan
    Busy spiders, spinning webs
dew fresh flowers, birds at play
    Morning coffee, drunk outdoors
A perfect way to start the day

    Perfumed scent fills the air
shades of green take up the slack
My garden is a rich reward
For all those hours of aching back

    Dennis Whiteside
Roses are Red and violets are blue
But my garden consist of a damned great shed that shuts out the view

    Emma Higgott
My garden's a great lump of concrete
With weeds, stones and snails galore
Plus a wheelie bin in the corner
So I couldn't really ask for more!

But this summer I'm really determined
To clean it up, spick and span
Dig up all that horrible concrete,
But I'll have to hire a man

Then I'll lay down a pretty patio
Plant lots of flowers in my tubs
I'll clear all my borders of weeds
So you can actually see my shrubs

When all the hard work's finished
    I think I'll deserve a treat
So I'll invest in a new sun lounger
Where I can relax and put up my feet.
