One
thing we can be certain of in this life is that we die. But what
happens next? Is there a Heaven and will we meet God? Are we reincarnated
and can we be punished for our sins?
For
the February Faith Alive discussion, Melting Pot presenter Ian Pearce
was joined by Bharti Tailor a Hindu from Bedford, Fazle Khunkar,
a Muslim from Milton Keynes and Sally Spear, a Bahai from Hertfordshire.
Ian
said that he struggled to understand a concept of another existence
and believed that we are judged by what we achieve in this life.
He found the teaching of his Christian upbringing rather idealistic
and simplistic.
Perhaps
the Muslim view of the afterlife was the most detailed and most
physical, and Fazle explained that Muslims have a clear and detailed
vision.
Sally's
view as a Bahai was of another existence but in a spiritual way,
another form of existence unlike the human form of life.
And
Bharti explained that Hindus live their lives trying to ensure they
come back as a human being in another life
.reincarnation.
If you have a bad life this time the next life could also be pretty
grim.
A slug
was Ian's suggestion!
