The
Liberal Democrats fell just one short of taking a clear majority
on St Albans District Council. It
means the Council remains in No Overall Control although the Lib
Dems remain the largest party.

The
council has a total of 58 seats, and a third of these, 18 seats
in total, were up for election this year.
The
Lib Dems gained five seats in total, taking two from Labour and
three from the Conservatives. It brings their new total to 29 seats
out of a possible 58. The Tories, Labour and and an Independent
have another 29 seats between them.
The
new total is as follows: Lib Dem 29, Con 17, Lab 11, Independent
