The count takes place in Letchworth

Elections took place for a third of North Herts District Council.

1973-NOC; 1976-CON; 1979-CON; 1980-CON; 1982-CON; 1983-CON; 1984-CON; 1986-CON; 1987-CON; 1988-CON; 1990-CON; 1991-CON; 1992-CON; 1994-NOC; 1995-NOC; 1996-LAB; 1998-LAB; 1999-CON; 2000-CON

No change in North Hertfordshire where the Conservatives were able to keep hold of their slim majority.

Both the Tories and the Lib Dems took a seat from Labour.

The Conservatives could only afford to lose 2 seats in order to retain their majority, but in the end fought off any opposition.

It means the current political make up of the council is as follows:-
