European Elections: Eastern region |

There
were seven seats up for election in the Eastern England region which
covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk
and Essex. |
 |
|
|
 |
There
was disappointment for the former BBC journalist Martin Bell who
failed in his bid to become an Independent MEP for the Eastern Region,
which includes Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. Instead the UKIP
snatched 2 of the 7 seats, the Conservatives 3, leaving Labour and
the Lib Dems with one each.
There's
now a significant change to the political makeup in the Eastern
region. Five years ago - when there was one extra seat on offer
- the Conservatives claimed four, Labout two and the Liberal Demoncrats
and UKIP one each.
