    The BBC broadcast its first appeal for children on Christmas day in 1927, 75 years ago.

    Since 1980, the BBC Children in Need appeal has raised more than £300m for disadvantaged children living in the UK.

    Last November the charity raised £26million.

    The final total for the 2001 Appeal is £25 million, £5 million more than for the 2000 Appeal.

    BBC Three Counties Radio set the World Record in 2001 for the longest continuous talk radio show after a 33-hour show.

    Nick Lawrence is arrested.

    Pudsey Bear.Stop press! BBC Three Counties Radio's Breakfast presenter Nick Lawrence was in for a shock when Beds Police halted his show to arrest him for fraud (impersonating a proper radio presenter) and led him away.

    Toby Friedner on top of the Xscape. Pudsey Bear.Three Counties Radio Milton Keynes Breakfast Presenter Toby Friedner found himself on the top of Xscape in the new city with only one way down - abseil. Along with PY Gerbeau he got down the side of the 200ft building. See the pictures here.

    Pudsey Bear.Students at the Chalfont campus of Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College had a slave auction, played drinking games - and a Mr and Mrs BCUC, raising about £320.

    Darren Decoste. Pudsey Bear.It was a case of hair today, gone tomorrow when Darren Decoste had his long hair shaved off. Darren, 35, from Hoddesdon, had grown his hair for more than 10 years - and now sports a number two and £550 for CiN. "My girlfriend wasn't too happy but it's for a good cause and it will grow back."

    Darren Decoste. Pudsey Bear.Six lovely ladies were ringing bells between 10.30 - 12.30 at the food court in MK (in between Sainsbury's and Iceland). Erica, Joyce, Carol, Gill, Lilly and Pat are the Leighton Pealers, which was formed in 1996.

    Bourne End Cake Sale. Pudsey Bear.Bourne End Mother and Toddler Group held a cake sale and Pudsey raffle and raised a magnificent £79.33 - well done everyone!

    Tim Jarman. Pudsey Bear.Tim Jarman dyed his hair like Pudsey's and raised a total of £140.22!

    Aaron. Pudsey Bear.There's no gain without pain - Aaron at the Bletchley Campus of Milton Keynes College endured excruciating pain (he had his legs waxed!) to gain £300 for Children in Need.
