The
BBC broadcast its first appeal for children on Christmas day
in 1927, 75 years ago.
Since
1980, the BBC Children in Need appeal has raised more than
£300m for disadvantaged children living in the UK.
Last
November the charity raised £26million.
The final total for the 2001 Appeal is £25 million, £5 million
more than for the 2000 Appeal.
BBC Three Counties Radio set the World Record in 2001 for
the longest continuous talk radio show after a 33-hour show.

Stop
press! BBC Three Counties Radio's Breakfast presenter
Nick Lawrence was in for a shock when Beds Police halted
his show to arrest him for fraud (impersonating a proper radio
presenter) and led him away.

Three
Counties Radio Milton Keynes Breakfast Presenter Toby Friedner
found himself on the top of Xscape in the new city with only
one way down - abseil. Along with PY Gerbeau he got down the
side of the 200ft building. See the pictures here. |

It
was a case of hair today, gone tomorrow when Darren Decoste
had his long hair shaved off. Darren, 35, from Hoddesdon,
had grown his hair for more than 10 years - and now sports a
number two and £550 for CiN. "My girlfriend wasn't
too happy but it's for a good cause and it will grow back." |

Six
lovely ladies were ringing bells between 10.30 - 12.30 at the
food court in MK (in between Sainsbury's and Iceland). Erica,
Joyce, Carol, Gill, Lilly and Pat are the Leighton Pealers,
which was formed in 1996. |

There's
no gain without pain - Aaron at the Bletchley Campus
of Milton Keynes College endured excruciating pain (he had his
legs waxed!) to gain £300 for Children in Need. |
