Saracens Stand Up with Right Said Fred!Watford based Saracens rugby squad have teamed up with 90's pop sensation Right Said Fred to record a new club anthem, 'Stand up for the Saracens!'. ![]() The song will be premiered when the team runs onto the field before their opening match of the season, against London Irish at Twickenham on Saturday. Richard Fairbrass, lead singer of Right Said Fred, spoke to BBC Three Counties Breakfast Show presenter Stephen Rhodes and explained: "The song 'Stand Up For Champions' has long been a big sports song, and the Saracens people decided to pick it up because the word 'Saracens' scans pretty well with the word 'champions' so that's what we've done - renaming it 'Stand Up for the Saracens!" "It was a lot of fun. The players certainly don't lack enthusiasm, and a few of them have really good voices. Some lack a bit of rhythm but then I can't play rugby so we'll forgive them!" said Richard. Wingers Noah Cato and James Short each have their own lines within the song, and the cub's Italian international front row – Carlos Nieto, Fabio Ongaro and Matias Aguero – contribute two memorable lines as the club's very own Three Tenors. "Very few rugby clubs have their own song," said Director of Rugby Brendan Venter, "and we wanted something to bring the players and supporters together. The guys had a great time recording the song with Richard and Fred Fairbrass, and I'm sure the supporters will enjoy what they hear. We really want them to 'Stand up for the Saracens' at Twickenham." The song will be available as a free download on the Saracens website in the next few days, and will then be sung live before Saracens play Northampton Saints in The Big Day Out, with Diversity, at Wembley Stadium on September 12th.
