Introducing... the bands! You are in: Beds Herts and Bucks > Introducing... > Introducing... the bands! > Introducing... New Device ![]() Introducing... New Device Introducing... New DeviceJust some boys who are sick of ''fad'' bands and people writing music because it is trendy. Please state the names of all the band members and the instruments they play…Daniel Leigh-VOCALS, Phil Kinman-LEAD GUITAR, Robb Wybrow-RYTHM GUITAR, Roz Ison-DRUMS, Andy Saxton-BASS How would you describe your style of music?HARD ROCK What would you say are your musical influences?Guns and Roses, Metallica, Skid Row, Motley Crue, Aerosmith How did the band form?We formed at the beggining of 2008. Daniel, Phil were in a band together and Robb had previously been in a band they had toured with. Upon deciding that the 3 of us wanted to start a band like this, we brought in Andy and Roz who had recently parted ways from other bands at just the right time. The decision came to start New Device because we were sick of ''fad'' bands and people writing music because it was trendy. We wanted to write music with longevity and power and be our own favourite band-we wanted to write music that we wanted to listen to. Of all the songs you have written, what’s your current favourite and why?Our favourites span over the 3 tracks that we will be playing-Make My Day, On Fire and Takin' Over. The reasons being that the songs are hard hitting-confident with a hint of arogance, raunchy and full of energy. What’s your most memorable gig and why?We just played DOWNLOAD festival last Friday so it would have to be that. It was a real rollercoaster-the weather was fantastic, we were treated really well, we met some great people, saw loads of great bands and played our best performance to date. ![]() Introducing... New Device What’s your fan base like? What we are finding is that our fan base is very diverse. We are appealing to audiences that are very young because we are young and have the energy that they can identify with and a lyrical content that they understand also and to an older generation who hear classic elements in our music that they loved and still love from when they were young. We are writing music that is all out hard rock with great solid soaring melodies and thick pounding rythms and killer guitar riffs so it enables us to have a very ecclectic fanbase. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever done / sent to you? From Dan- It would probably have been when I got off stage went to the merch desk to sell some tshirts-a girl asked me for a shirt-I said they were £8-when she saidhow much for YOUR shirt i was a bit taken aback as it was drenched in sweat. I told her she wouldnt want it as it was disgustingly sweaty but she kept offering me more and more and more money for the sopping thing(I didnt sell it to her!) aside from that I got off stage once took my again sweaty shirt off and a girl came up behind me and bit me really hard just above my shoulder-scared the hell out of me! Name one unusual fact about each of you?Robb Wybrow has his very own signature guitar, Daniel won a junior muscle competition when he was 8, Andy works for a company that writes and records music for movies called Advent music, Phil can hit a bulls eye in darts even when drunk! and Roz is the only vegan drummer any of us have known! If you could record a collaboration with ANYONE - who would it be and why?It would have to be Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. The man buzzez with energy and ideas and is pure carisma and creativity-I think it would be a real experience working with him. What’s the band’s ultimate ambition or what’s your dream? We write stadium songs. Our ambition is to be a world famous stadium touring band. Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?Our album is out on the 20th July on Powerage Records and we have another single and video release in the pipeline. last updated: 25/06/2009 at 09:51 Have Your SayHave Your Say You are in: Beds Herts and Bucks > Introducing... > Introducing... the bands! > Introducing...
