Introducing... Guildean Gang

How did the band form?

Olly, Downing and Charlie have been friends since meeting in school many years ago. We played in a few different bands together during this time. We parted ways briefly but when we were together again, during our time at college in Guildford, we met Adam and recruited him as the bass player in our new band, Guildean Gang. We’ve been together struggling for money for about the last 2 years.

Of all the songs you have written, what’s your current favourite and why?

The new ones are our favourites because they are fresh and they have a far more developed sound than the older songs.

What’s your most memorable gig and why?

Hull, Adelphi. We got a great reception so far away from home, which we weren’t expecting. Everybody we met was amazing. One of the promoters came on stage and performed the worm. We had a little party in the hotel room with some new friends we made.

What’s your fan base like? What group of people would you say you appealed to most?

We have a good mixture of people at our gigs. A lot of young people but we get a lot of good feedback from older generations too.

What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever done / sent to you?

A young lady told us that she had visions of us dying. They sent loads of lovely paintings too, all the way from South Africa.

Name one unusual fact about each of you?

Downing collects shiny toy dinosaurs.
Adam has over 100 crowns from around the world and likes to dress up at weekends.
Olly was asked to join a band with ex members of The Darkness and Towers of London.
Charlie got the players player award for Biggleswade Town FC

If you could record a collaboration with ANYONE - who would it be and why?

BOWIE in the 70's because we're mates with Ziggy Stardust.

What’s the band’s ultimate ambition or what’s your dream?

To make a great record and to headline the Reading Festival.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?

No. It's a secret.
