The aim is to read the bible (both testaments) from cover to cover! The parishioners have set a fundraising target of £5000 with proceeds going to the Steeple Morden Church Tower Appeal which has been running for 11 months and has so far generated some £40,000 of the £75,000 required. All manner of people have already volunteered to take part in the marathon. "Individuals, local groups and clubs from the village have been invited to take part. There will also be a number of 'dignitaries' getting involved... "Our local MP is coming along to do a reading, as are the Arch Deacon of Cambridge and the Bishop of Huntingdon. Pam Rhodes from the BBC's Songs of Praise will be starting the whole event and doing the first reading for us" said John. The organisers need all the help they can get to complete the marathon, "If you divide 72 hours up into period of ten minutes, you'll see that we need 432 readers!" said John. Participants will also need to watch the clock to make sure that they finish the task in the time allocated. "If we get behind, we'll have to try and speed people up a little bit!" said John.
